BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo General Hospital announced today that its behavioral health outpatient programs will be relocated from the Community Mental Health Center building at 80 Goodrich Street in Buffalo, New York to 1010 Main Street in Buffalo on February 16, 2009.
Included in the move are The Continuing Day Treatment Program, The Outpatient Clinic, The MICA/Trauma Services Program, The Chemical Dependency Program and The Partial Hospital Program.
"This is an exciting move that will provide tremendous benefit to those we serve," said Sanjay Chadha, vice president, business operations, Buffalo General Hospital. "The newly renovated space offers state-of-the-art safety features, a welcoming environment specifically designed to ensure the comfort of our customers and continued access to our outstanding staff of behavioral health specialists."
The Community Mental Health Center will close at the end of the day on February 12. The program will begin offering services at the new location on February 16, 2009. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Call (716) 859-4700 for appointments or more information.
The new facility is less than one block from the current location, which conveniently places it directly on the Metro Bus/Rail line. It also allows for close proximity to Buffalo General Hospital and the medical and/or emergency care services many of its customers rely on.
"We have been proudly serving the Western New York community with essential behavioral health services since 1972," said Larry Zielinski, president, Buffalo General Hospital. "In 2008 we completely renovated our psychiatric inpatient unit to provide a patient-friendly environment for those struggling with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and more. Now, we are extending that same consideration to our outpatient behavioral health customers."
Buffalo General Hospital officials also said The Community Mental Health Center will be changing its name, which will be announced at an upcoming open house in early 2009.
The Department of Behavioral Health & Psychiatry at Buffalo General Hospital provides exceptional quality care to those in Western New York whose lives have been touched by emotional struggles, substance abuse and dependency, behavioral difficulties, severe mental illness, and those who are on a journey of recovery.
